($1 M) One Million Dollars in the Garbage
Surprise! Surprise! An Israeli family was treated to a double surprise this week when both mother and daughter surprised each other.
An Israeli woman's mom was truly surprised when she got back home and found new bed mattresses that her daughter bought for her. How sweet of the daughter to think of her elderly mom and buy her new and much more comfortable mattresses. But to her surprise, she probably got a hard scolding from her mom!
It turns out that the elderly woman uses the mattress to stash her life savings amounting to one million dollars! Talk about sleeping with money! Although they've searched three different landfills already, the mattress is yet to be found. I bet one of the neighbors needing a mattress saw it at the garbage collection area and took it for his own usage. If you find the mattress with the money, will you return it?
This story reminds me of how my mom stashes some of her money in secret places around the house! This just goes to show that people, especially the elderly, still feels safer with money in their hands rather than kept in the bank. (^o^)/

Woman throws out mattress with $1M inside
JERUSALEM - AN ISRAELI WOMAN mistakenly threw out a mattress with $1 Million inside, setting off a frantic search through tons of garbage at a number of landfill sites, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.
The woman told Army Radio that she bought her elderly mother a new mattress as a surprise on Monday and threw out the old one, only to discover that her mother had hidden her life savings inside. She was identified only as Anat, a resident of Tel Aviv.
When she went to look for the mattress it had already been taken by garbage men, she said. Subsequent searches at three different landfill sites turned up nothing.
The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot published a picture of the woman searching through garbage at a dump in southern Israel.
Yitzhak Borba, the dump manager, told the radio station that his staff was helping the woman, saying she appeared "totally desperate." He said the mattress was hard to find among the 2,500 tons of garbage arriving at the site everyday.
He said he increased security at the site to keep would be treasure hunters at abay. AP
